So I know it's been a while but I've been so busy with school work and mock exams, but I'm back and I've decided to do a little review on some of the amzaing and the not so amazing gowns that graced the red carpet at not just the Golden Globes but also the SAG Awards.
Golden Globes -
Emma Roberts - Lanvin
This black off the sholder fish tail dress looks amazing on Emma, the shape hugs her curves in all the right places; it really shows off her slim figure, the hair and make up are styled perfectly to complement the dress.
Emma Watson - Dior
I love that Emma took a risk on the red carpet a thing that many choose not to do, this gorgues red dress/ top completments her slim frame and the wrap around at the waist really pulls in at her ting waist; I don't have a photo of the back but the back detailing of this red dress really shows of the risk that she took, the cut out back shows off the black slim leg trouses underneath. The only thing I have to say about this look that I didn't like was the blue shoes, It needs a more statment peice shoe to finish off the look.
Lupita Nyong'o - Ralph Lauren
For her first red carpet apperence Lupita looked flawless, when I first saw this photo I didn't even realise that it was her first time on a red carpet because of her grace and clear presence she worked it like a true hollywood star. This red dress really shows off her slim figure, the off the shoulder cut works, when sometimes it can look horific! But she pulled it off, the cape overlay detail of the dress makes it different to other dresses.
Margrot Robbie - Gucci
This beautiful custom made cream Gucci dress, with silver and green chain detail, the low cut top and the high split leg shouldn't work- you either have one or the other but on Margort it suprisenly works. It's a simple yet beautifuly elegant dress that looks beautiful on her.
Mayim Bialik - David Meister Signature
When I first saw this photo I didn't reconise her, this black mesh dress, looks great on her if it had been pulled in tighter at the waist and tailed so that it hugged her figure it would look a lot better but still with her hair and make-up she looked stunning. It's different from her geeky character in the Big Bang Theory.
Oliva Wilde - Gucci
Olivia showed us that even with baby you can rock a long sleeved green beaded/glitzy deatailed Gucci dress on the red carpet, at one of the first awards ceromony of the year. From hair and make-up to the dress and acessories she looked like a true star.
Taylor Swift - Caronlina Herrera
Now anyone who knows me I'm not a Taylor fan, but this dress looks so good on her! The tailoring has really been done beautifuly to show off her tiny figure, the slight ruffeled side gives it a little detail and I love the black top totally different; her hair and make-up gives it the old hollywood glam but the red gown gives it a modern twist. I love it- and it's nice to see her out of a nude tight dress!
Zoe Saldana - Probal Gurung
Everyone loves it when stars take a risk on the red carpet and I love that Zoe did, this dress is a one that your either going to love or hate.. I love it. It's different, It's daring and It works but I feel it shouldn't at the same time and that's the thing I love about it. The only thing I have to say about it is the shoes, If your going to make such a bold statment with the dress follow through with the shoes too! Oh and stand straight.
My Worst Dressed:
Jennifer Lawrence - Christian Dior Couture
Everything about this is so wrong! I don't like her new hair, I feel it doesn't suite her at all and the dress looks like she's wearing her duvet and bed sheets! It doesn't completment her at all. It's just a massive red carpet no no!
Sandra Bullock - Prabal Gurung
Risk taking on the red carpet are great.. unless it's this.. Don't get me wrong the dress it's self is nice, but the pink and blue just throws it off compleatly. Her hair is average, I mean it could look better; Sandra Bullock tried but didn't pull it off as good as maybe she had planned.
SAG Awards:
Amy Adams - Antonio Berardi
Amy Adams brought the old hollywood glam to the SAG Awards... after her red dress at the goldern globes that needed that cape! This blue fugure hugging one shoulder dress looks so good on her, I love that it's so simple yet looks amzaing.
Julie Bowen - Carolina Herra
This dress is unusual, but strangly works... I feel it shouldn't but it does. It has an apsrtact pattern and bold brown and orange colours, it's a massive risk for such a simple dress to be worn on the red carpet- and for it to be pulled off so well. From her hair and make-up and dress looks amazing.
Katrina Bowden - Badgley Michka
I can't stress enough how much I love this dress! Or even the whole thing hair, make-up & dress it all looks stunning! The matte black with a slight shimmer dress with the gold detailing at the top, is so different to most dresses worn on the red carpet; the shape of the dress has been tailored beautifuly to flatter her curves. Katrina looks simply beautiful!
Lupita Nyong'o - Gucci
After how amzing she looked at the Goldern Globes you wouldn't think that Lupita could look any better.. we was all wrong this turquoise slim figure dress with flower detail at the neck looks absolutely flawless! I have nothing more to say, just to watch out this is just the beginging for Lupita Nyong'o.
Oprah Winfrey - Badgley Mischka
Now I'm a massive Oprah fan, but this blue dress looks amazing on her, it pulls in at her waist to show off jsut how small it really is! It complements her chest and just looks really flattering on her, I love the little broche thats been added it's a simple yet elgent and beautiful look.
Sofia Vergara - Donna Karan Atelier
This silver beaded detailed dress has been tailored to complement her curves beautifuly, although it could of been tighter at the waist just to show off how small it is! But that aside it looks stunning on her and I love this, it's so different from the massive black ball gown she wore for the Goldern Globes but looks jsut as good as this one!
Worst Dressed:
Kerry Washington - Prada & Harry Winston
I'm so disapointed in Kerry Washington.. normally she looks flawless on a red carpet, she owns it but her she just flopped.. she tried to take a risk and it didn't work. She looks like an overdressed liquorice allsort.. if you don't know what one is google it! Her hair and make-up look beautiful, it's just the key bit that's letting her down.
Mayim Bialik
The top half works, but unfortuantly the skirt jsut doesn't; sparetly they would work, or on someones else, it just looks reallhy frumpy. Her hair and make-up look beautiful but something about the dress lets it all down and I'm so dissapointed.
