Before i begin i just want to give a little shout out to one of my bestest friends and a carriescloset addict Dani, she's constantly texting me asking when i'm updating and asking questions; so here is your massive shout out Dan. I'll put her twitter at the bottom and make sure you follow her!
Right.. let's begin this update;
Fashion to me is about making a statement, standing out from the crowd and being different. I know that sounds crazy because we spent our lives as we grow up trying to fit in, but some point in our lives we realise that fitting in isn't important any more and a way of doing that, i found that this was through fashion; fashion is a way of expressing yourself creating something beautiful because it's an art. Some might think it's not beautiful and criticise you for what you wear because it's not "cool" truth is everyones perception of beautiful is different.
A perfect example of this is a runway show, some of the shows that we see are crazy the hair, make-up and the outfits. Fact is to me that describes fashion, i constantly get asked questions about runway shows and i never know how to answer them because yeah they are crazy and we probably wouldn't wear half of them but honestly something that someone else wears might not be something that someones else would; that truly is fashion.
Your probably thinking what has this got to do with making a statement with my closet, well it has everything; how do you expect to standout from the crowd make a statement if you don't feel comfortable or happy in what you wear. So don't be afraid to wear something out there or quite bold; as long as you like it who cares what anyone else thinks.
For me i own so many things that i know my friends or most people don't like, i thought i'd share some of mine with you. My first item is a leather skater skirt, i love this skirt and wear it all the time! I normally pair it with a chiffon blouse and a leather jacket;in the winter i'd wear ankle boots but in the summer just some cute little dolly shoes look great as well. I like the leather skirt because it adds a texture to an outfit, makes it a little rocky or can be quite girly with an edge to it.
The second thing is a black and white flower print skirt, i love this skirt because the contrast of the black against the white; which is really in at the moment anyway. Also the fact that the flowers are embossed really makes it standout and creates a lovely texture; another thing is that you can wear it with everything and it still looks really nice. I wear mine with a denim shirt or a stripped black and white stripped t-shirt ( it did look nice and i pulled it off, which i was very happy about!).
The last thing i'm going to share with you is a black and white cartoony dress, you can get them in bright colours and i am looking for one that i like. This patten is so popular at the moment, they are very out their especially the colour ones; the beauty with this dress is that you can make it casual with some converses or you can dress it up with an amazing pair of statement shoes, i'd wear mine with my Jeffery Campbell's and a leather jacket to make it a fierce rocky, yet dressy look.
